I am a retired college professor who researched and published articles and books on organizations. I also am a 70 year-old homeowner who needs to think prudently about the cost as well as the quality of any work done on our home. Kevin Palmer and his men earned the highest rank in both categories. Kevin himself is a total professional. He also is a decent human being. His men reflect both of these qualities. As a professional, Kevin devoted more time to carefully estimating the work to be done prior to submitting his estimate than anyone else in the five decades I have owned a home. His men took genuine care and pride in their (and I mean it) work. They spent more time, with real “elbow grease,” scraping, sanding and preparing our house for painting (and its many windows for caulking) than any painters I ever have employed. In comparison, the last crew of just a few years ago merely “dusted” in preparation before they began painting. And a lasting paint job is all about preparation. Kevin’s men, or at least the one’s I met — Charley, Ron, Walter, and Randy — are professionals themselves with decades of work experience as individuals and together. Like Kevin, they too are good and decent men. I know, for being retired, I had a bit more time to get to know them. They all have character, and don’t just care about their work – they genuinely enjoy working with each other, as I did having them around. It could be that a psychologist would call them individually and as a crew, “congruent.” In the area of costs, Kevin’s men power washed the paint on our house, used only the highest quality paint, and even took down an old TV antenna on our roof – and the price I paid still was competitive with other estimates. Organizationally, I’ve never seen a more dedicated or professional group of craftsmen do a better job together than these good men. Kevin deserves honest credit for selecting and maintaining this crew, as these men do for making it up. I never have been more satisfied with any work done on our home. Kevin and his men earned every word in this piece.

Kevin Palmer Painting recently completed another interior house painting project in Avon, CT. The work involved a home purchased by a couple who were renovating the interior prior to moving in. Floors were to be refinished, carpets installed, the interior painted, and the entire home was to be transformed.
Commitment to schedule as well as attention to detail and quality workmanship were very important to the couple. In their search for an interior painter with an extensive resume of house painting in Avon, CT, the couple chose Kevin Palmer Painting. We were pleased at our selection as their painting contractor. And as with all our painting customers, our professional painters would make every effort to exceed their high expectations.
The work involved removing wallpaper in a living room and hall and then painting the walls. The painting project also included painting 2 additional rooms which were destined to become the couple’s dens.
The homeowners work during the week but were confident their new home would be safe and secure entrusted to the painters of Kevin Palmer Painting. Rob, Dru, and Wald were the painting experts entrusted to make the homeowner’s dream a reality.
The painters began work by carefully covering all floors and securing and protecting the work areas. Clean drop cloths, canvas runners, and plastic were used to protect the home throughout the process. The wallpaper was stripped, the wallpaper adhesive was thoroughly removed, and then the walls were washed, rinsed, and totally cleaned. The painters then patched all cracks and holes, taped seams and joints, and caulked the trim. After the walls were inspected and any imperfections were addressed, the house painters applied a prime coat of Benjamin Moore interior alkyd primer. The walls were then painted with 2 finish coats of Benjamin Moore eggshell paint.
Kevin Palmer Painting worked with the homeowner in their selection of paint products and sheens, and the resulting finish was gratifying for everyone involved. At the completion of the interior painting we received the following email. As a professional painting contractor, it doesn’t get much better than this:

The other day I received an email from an individual wanting an internet painting quote. Her message read as follows: “New room – sheetrocked and taped, paint ready. Ceiling (8ft), sloped to 4′ knee walls, one closet, trim around window doors and baseboard. About 16×20. “
And that was it. The individual wanted to know “the bottom line.” The potential customer wanted me to quote on this work sight unseen, and was undoubtedly contracting the entire project in this fashion. I declined to quote.

Kevin Palmer Painting was extremely proud to have been selected to paint the exterior of one of the oldest homes in Canton, CT. This antique home is located in the Canton Historic District which consists of approximately 500 acres in the center of Canton, Connecticut. The Canton Center Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. This beautiful home is in a wooded setting nestled against Cherry Brook.
The home is a wonderful example of Greek Revival style architecture. It features exquisite wide-band trim at the cornice line of the roof, entry porches, rectangular transom lights above the front door and sidelights, and an elaborate door surround with pilasters and wonderful detailed trim. There are frieze windows along the roof edge, beautiful columns and molding, and frieze around the roof lines. The home is gorgeous and it was the privilege for the professional painters of Kevin Palmer Painting to restore its natural beauty.
As with every exterior house painting project we undertake, our technicians carefully power washed the home. Power washing removes the mold, mildew, and surface dirt, and readies the house for preparation. The cleansers used in our power wash are all environmentally friendly. Preparation for painting was next on our agenda. Loose paint was carefully removed, exposed surfaces were primed, windows were glazed, caulking and putty were applied, and all debris was contained, collected, and properly discarded. The well-trained house painters of Kevin Palmer Painting as always kept the work site neat and organized throughout the painting process.
Painting preparation and complete priming creates the foundation for a long-lasting, beautiful finish on this historical residence in Canton, CT.
Painting consisted of a 2 coat application of premium grade products. Our house painters worked with the homeowner to reproduce the original colors of the home. Kevin Palmer Painting recently completed another interior painting project under the watchful eyes of 2 discerning pups. The owners of this lovely Simsbury home are working professionals and valued repeat customers who entrusted their home and beloved dogs to our care during the painting project.

This particular interior painting project involved an entertainment room and a lower level family room with built-ins, shelving, and architectural trim that detailed the home’s fine design.
Proper preparation, as always, is a must and the painting professionals of Kevin Palmer Painting carefully and thoroughly went about their tasks. All furniture, carpets, and possessions were carefully covered and protected with clean, soft canvas drop cloths to ensure their safekeeping and protection throughout the painting process. The painters then repaired nail pops, cracks, and repaired any surface imperfections. Caulking of joints and seams was addressed as well as using shellac and stain-kill wherever needed. After cleaning and inspection it was on to the painting.

Kevin Palmer Painting recently completed an interior painting project on a beautiful historic home in West Hartford, CT. The clients are repeat customers, and our professional painters were very proud to have been selected to undertake this challenging and rewarding project.
Kevin Palmer Painting was selected to paint this West Hartford Historic Property listed with the National Register of Historic Places.
The project involved painting a beautifully appointed office in a timely manner while paying attention to the smallest of details. The homeowner, a perfectionist with exquisite taste, used historic colors to best highlight the detailed interior trim and molding. Paint color and sheen samples were made for owner review and consideration, and upon approval, the painting experts of Kevin Palmer Painting began to work their magic.
The first step involved complete and thorough painting preparation. The painters carefully covered and protected all areas involved in the restoration. They then undertook preparation including scraping off loose paint, spot priming as needed, caulking, shellacking, patching, sanding, and cleaning using HEPA filtered vacuums. The woodwork was then tack ragged prior to finish painting.
The painters then primed the walls with 2 coats of primer tinted to match the selected finish color. A lining paper was next installed on all walls to achieve a soft textured look and feel sought by the client.
The next step was to apply 2 coats of an oil base finish to the bookcases, windows, doors, trim, and moldings. The office woodwork literally glistened when the painters carefully and meticulously completed this task.
The windows, doors, and trim received 2 coats of a premium grade low-luster oil based paint.
- The woodwork glistened with a low-luster finish which enhanced the beauty of the finely detailed trim.
The interior house painting professionals of Kevin Palmer Painting then turned their expertise to applying the finish paint to the walls. Great care and skill was used to cut neat, clean, crisp lines around the trim. The walls then received 2 finish coats of premium matte finish paint.
